Spices lower blood lipid levels and reduce insulin production

According to a study by the Pennsylvania State University, spices can lower blood lipid levels and the production of insulin. In a mini-study, six healthy but overweight subjects were served 3-course menus over two days. In a menu, the researchers used peppers, turmeric, cloves, cinnamon, oregano, rosemary, and black pepper. The other menu was served without seasoning. In the comparative study, metabolic differences were determined in the laboratory. As a result, spiced dishes were not only more beneficial in taste, but also for health.

All spices are said to have an antioxidant effect.

After eating, the scientists checked the blood lipid levels, blood pressure and insulin content of the participants at 30-minute intervals. The review continued in six additional steps. Compared to the non-spiced food, the values ​​were significantly better. Although the spiced food was high in fat, the triglyceride level decreased by an average of 30 percent. Permanently increased values ​​can increase the risk of thrombosis and arteriosclerosis of the blood vessels. In addition, decreased insulin production was noted after the spiced meal. According to the laboratory results, an average of 20 percent less insulin was produced.
